An excellent traditional pub atmosphere on the outskirts of Bath. A great place to bring friends and family.I had the blue cheese burger and it was out of this world. Very meaty and savoury, just what I needed! Chips were excellent.I also had the calamari, and whilst frozen, was still quite good. Came served piping hot.Would be back here again!
Three of us met for lunch at The Crown, as we have done many times before. We were well looked after by Libby who gave us attentive service and was very pleasant. The food is always good, but it is a shame they no longer do a salad for lunch. My only option would have been a side salad which would have been a bit small, so I chose something else. I thought it was a shame that the chef could not put together a larger salad and the menu was so inflexible. My two companions had omelettes which were very good. This did not detract from the enjoyment of our lunch and we shall return next time we meet up.
Very average food, shocked to see a charge of £4.50p for 1 additional Yorkshire pudding.Small portion of cauliflower cheese for 3 people. Requested more but told no.Service slow, was asked to leave table in 15 mins as they had another booking but had not received our puddings or coffee due to slow service, asked again to move asap when they delivered coffee......not acceptable
Absolutely incredible experience. The friendly service really stood out. Libby was an amazing host, so warm and welcoming, and there was also a young lad serving who was equally brilliant (and funny!). We were made to feel genuinely looked after.The music was spot on, the portions were very generous (we couldn’t finish!), and the desserts were amazing. Great location too, with the bonus of parking on site.We’ll definitely be back. 5 🌟
The crown is my local pub, I've had there chicken burger before and it was amazing. Went their last night to have it again. And this time it was awful. It wasn't fresh, over cooked and very dry. My jawl was aching so much i couldn't get all. Only wanted it because of how much it cost.The service waas great.
What a lovely pub! Dropped in as we were passing, wonderful ambience, warm and cosy atmosphere, comfy chairs, fantastic and friendly staff, great selection of drinks. Highly recomnended.

Biggish, friendly, warm atmosphere, good beer garden that comes into its own in summer. Good programme of free live music acts, either inside or in the garden. Been meeting friends here for decades.

Genuine, honest pub with lovely people involved from top to bottom. Quirky, no frills style restaurant with a lovely French infused menu, catering to all.This is a pub where friendship, connection, community and good times are central values, rooted deep to its core. It is of great amusement that a select few can be reckless enough to very publicly vilify a venue and/or management, on the back of a singular bad experience. Clearly, Mr Clarke, the owners and staff are significantly more memorable to you, than you are to them.I will always vehemently support this lovely local pub, its staff and patrons. Long may it continue under the leadership of Vanessa, Madge and the team.
Back in England and Bathford since from a long time ago with relatives from London driving up. We really liked the Crown the last time we were here and went there for lunch. It was just as good as last time. Friendly staff, good food (we had different things incl. the Sunday roast and everyone was happy). The setting and atmosphere are lovely. The young lady doing waiting was a delight. Attentive without being intrusive (and we were a trial spending a long time before we even looked at the menus), knowledgeable, and engaging. Thank you Crown and staff!
We visited The Crown at dinner time to celebrate my mother's birthday. We met with a warm welcome from the friendly bar staff. Food was excellent, good selection of beers from Europe and the UK. The staff were very attentive and visited the table multiple times to see if we needed anything and to make sure we were topped up with drinks. Dogs are very welcome in the pub and we were even given a little cup of dog treats by the staff! We shall we be returning soon!
We had a delicious meal, the service was excellent and the staff were very warm and welcoming. The beer was good and we'll be returning soon.
A Disgrace to Its Former Reputation – Avoid at All CostsHaving visited The Crown many times over the years, I was genuinely shocked by the appalling experience on Sunday, 3rd August 2025. What was once a warm, high-quality dining spot under Vanessa’s ownership has clearly fallen into a state of neglect, both in the kitchen and front of house.The so-called “roast” was a pitiful excuse for a Sunday lunch: a pale, lazily cleaved half roast chicken — no seasoning, no crisp skin, no care — dumped next to a sad handful of soggy, undercooked microwave vegetables swimming in their own watery runoff. No proper sides, no attention to flavour or presentation, and certainly no justification for the inflated price tag. It felt like a meal slapped together in five minutes with supermarket basics, then marked up to restaurant prices without a shred of shame.Worse still was the staff’s complete indifference. When asked how the food was, we gave honest but polite feedback — only to be met with blank stares and disinterest. Not an apology, not an offer to rectify the issue — just a shrug and a quick retreat. It was clear no one cared, least of all about maintaining the standards that once made this place worth visiting.I can’t imagine that the former owner, Vanessa, would tolerate this level of sloppiness for even a moment. The soul of The Crown has been gutted, replaced by what feels like a cash-grab with zero concern for quality, hospitality, or reputation.We won’t be returning, and we will no longer be recommending The Crown to anyone — quite the opposite. There are far better places that understand what a proper Sunday roast should be — and how to treat customers with basic respect.
Just poped in for a quick pint good selection of draft beer and nice front of pub seating
Less a pub than a bad restaurant. The omelet was a white, eggy mess, and the chips were mediocre. They don't have English draft beer. A 10% service charge is automatically added without asking. For that the waiter comes to the table one too many times to ask if everything is OK.
The food was simple. Asked for some Serrano Ham. No toast or accompanying items. Asked the waitress if I could ask a question she said NO. Unbelievable. So I asked another and she said NO as well! Everyone, do yourselves a favour, visit the Bathhampton Mill Bath. STAY AWAY from THE CROWN. You have been warned! 💩
Nice place to eat and drink in. Go inside, you can then see all the places to eat and drink. From the outside, it looks like you have to sit in the car park to sit outside.
This place brings you everything and little bit more than you expect from it. The people are friendly. It is a lovely place to just have a beer and some food.
Lovely service from the team today. Cheesy chips were really cheesy and delicious. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Good outdoor space where dogs are welcome.

We stopped by for soft drinks and teas, accompanied by a selection of desserts, and were thoroughly impressed.Each sweet treat was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, showcasing a real attention to detail in both flavor and texture. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere that made us feel right at home.Although we didn’t explore the main menu this time, the quality of what we did have has certainly left us eager to return. If you’re in the area and looking for great service in a comfortable setting, The Crown at Bashford is well worth a visit.

Four of us and our dog stopped here for evening meal. Disappointed to find that two of our starters and a main unavailable. What we did have was good and portions were on the large side.Real ale and wine all good.We ate outside where there is a nice garden.

We were looking for a meeting point where we could relax with our dogs and our relatives. We chose this pub and we were surprised as the garden is well laid out, excellent seating not too close to each other.Then we ordered food, it was very very good.We will be back very soon.The staff were very friendly and helpful.Best bit, it has become a Free House, great beer too.
The Crown is such a nice pub the three people (2xF, 1xM) working behind the bar on Saturday evening 20th July were exceptional, super friendly, helpful and really hard working. The food was different from your usual pub fare but the butternut squash and beetroot cobbler was one of the best pub meals I’ve had in a long time. Popped back in there Sunday afternoon and sat in the sunshine in their large and quirky garden. This is the sort of pub I’d love as my local and that says it all. Thanks and well done to all involved

Stopped off here to get refreshments as we had been hiking for a couple of hours.Decide to have a pint of lager which was very nicely welcomed.Then, we decided we would have a bite to eat, which was garlic mushrooms with potatoes skinned fries.I had 10 mushrooms, and my wife had 9, so I thought, what a bonus that was until I got the aftertaste.Couldn't really taste the garlic, but was left with a taste of fat🤢.The mushrooms were £9.00 plus bowl of fries for £4.00. Now I don't mind paying good money as long as I get a good return, which I clearly didn't.I could have complained, but this would have only been a resolution for myself and my wife. I feel that if you are in a position of serving food, then it should always be presentable and tasty.Please take guidance from this to help other customers enjoy their meals.
We visited The Crown while on a barge holiday. There were six of us and we were all impressed. The staff were friendly and the service good. As for the food it was well cooked and presented well. I had the slow cooked pork and it was tender and well cooked. We all said we would definitely return if in the area again. I would highly recommend The Crown.

A really lovely country pub. Delicious Sunday roast with small or large options. The garden is gorgeous with plenty of seating and a Wendy house for the kids. Would heartily recommend this place, it’s lovely!!!!
Stayed in Batheaston for a few days and visited here 3 times. Good food, drink and service. Was nice also that they had a good selection of zero alcohol beers/ciders too.

What a joy to see standards are being kept up in this splendid place. My Wife and I brought Her Dad here a while ago. He was a Chelsea Pensioner and dressed in His full scarlet uniform brought the whole pub to a standstill.The generosity and respect shown by the (then) staff has stayed with Us. A good local pub for a drink but the food isn't great, particularly considering the price point. The vegetarian food really isn't good at all and the kids tomato pasta is just a tin of chopped tomato's poured over spaghetti.....no effort made to produce a decent sauce. Another small gripe is that the ancient Heinz Ketchup bottles are obviously refilled with a cheap brand.The bar staff are always good.....attentive and chatty.My real issue lately is that there is clearly someone on site who either lives or works there.....perhaps both, who smokes weed and the pub stinks of it! I have no problem with someone doing so but I don't need to smell it around the bar area while I'm with my family. Unfortunately it's meant us heading a little further to the Northey Arms.
We booked a table last Sunday at short notice. The staff were very friendly, and helpful. The food was delicious, hot and a very varied menu especially for a a Sunday menu. The staff where friendly and welcoming and they accommodated all 4 adults and a baby in a High Chair. Highly recommended.
Fantastic gastro pub (dog friendly) to come and have lunch with Friends and family. Great homemade ingredients,(try the Lamb or chicken burger, you won’t be disappointed) really relaxed atmosphere with great staff. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Lived in Bath for years & has never been inside until yesterday. What a great place! Lad behind bar was friendly, very accommodating & provided excellent service. Food was delicious and the chef took full account (and more) of my (numerous) dietary needs. Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. Prices very reasonable in my opinion.
Went for a Sunday lunch with friends. Absolutely beautiful food. The portions were amazing (though 2 Yorkshire puddings would have been better!) and everyone praised the vegetables. Service was impeccable and we even had puddings as we didn't want to leave. 2 and a half hours later we headed home very full and very happy. Well worth the drive.
Absolutely lovely pub, staff really friendly. Little wait on food ( was peak time and they did pre worn us when we walked in) food was very good and offer great gluten free options would definitely recommend.
Driven past this pub tens of times and never stopped... I've been missing out all this time! Such a cool interior, good selection of beers (and spirits) and finally delicious yet reasonable food! Lamb stew special was delicious, I'll definitely be back again!
A fantastic little place. We went to visit the University and took a chance before the 4hr drive home. It did not disappoint. It was delicious and reasonably priced! Obviously got dessert too! My son was so amazed by it too, the honey chicken was fabulous 👌
