WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US
We liked it here. The staff are young and enthusiastic, taking an evident pride in what they do, and they do it well. There’s an area for parking outside, plus on-street parking nearby. The garden has a small play area, plus sunny and shaded tables. The prices are fair- they’re Bath prices, yes, but the portions are good and those flavours are worth it! We will be back.
Went on a Friday lunchtime, amazingly the place was empty. We ate in the garden, which is very peaceful considering the location. I had a goats cheese and apple parcel, in which the flavours of both elements were perfectly balanced, and mussels which were the tenderest and best I’ve ever eaten, even in Belgium (and I’ve had a lot of mussels!). My husband’s steak and ale pie was actually a pie, not a casserole with a puff pastry lid balanced on top, and the taste was fabulous. This is definitely a totally unpretentious gastronomic find.
After trying a few places that said food all day but not till six we found this nice pub on the way home. Its a lovely place with real history and lovely staff who make you feel very welcome. We both had fish and chips and the wait was not to long for the food when it arrived my first thought was a lovely layout but not much but looks were deceiving as I was stuffed once I had finished my meal. I must say it’s got to be one of the best fish and chips I have had in a long time.
We visited here last weekend as we were staying in the B & B next door. Amazing food. I had an omelette which was really tasty
The bar staff were lovely and one of the barmen asked my husband if he’d like to try a Guinness and lime? as he always has it with blackcurrant. He gave him a sample which was really nice of him. My husband is now hooked!
Really nice place, has a real village pub feel to it.
I love the steak frites, its one of my many guilty pleasures in life as I often don’t eat meat. The Crown cook it just right. There are often dogs to play with and the garden is great in the summer. Jo-Jo is really cool too, playing great music.
Stopped for a quick bite which was just delightful. We meet the lovely landlady Vanessa
Would definitely recommend this place staff so helpful and food came very quickly nice home cooked food.
We hope to return soon .
I love this pub, consistently good food & another lovely lunch today. The steak frites is always good!
For me the main appeal of this place is the atmosphere, it has such a relaxed, welcoming & friendly feel. It’s somewhere to really eat, drink & relax. The girl that works there is amazing! I don’t know how she does it all & keeps everyone happy.
